Playing with the 70s theme of BLOOD, SWEAT & FEARS, we’ll post a few songs by year, starting with 1970, just for a workable soundtrack for any would-be contributors. I picked ones across the spectrum, from Rock and Pop tunes to others evocative of the time. This first batch reflects the era in transition, moving in earnest out of the 1960s and into the new decade, reflecting those changes.

You’ve got the Hippie Hangover of Mungo Jerry, the Carpenters (always creeped me out), the sorrowful, pensively folky sound of Simon & Garfunkel, the last gasp of the Beatles, the creepy-seeming Sugarloaf tune. There’s the loopy pop tune of Edison Lighthouse. There’s the Roberta Flack cover, as well as the emerging and hopeful groove of the Five Starships, and the hard rock cover of a 60s classic by Frijid Pink…
