Wax & Wane: A Quiver Full of Dirt

What is your story about?
“A Quiver Full of Dirt” is about Lilly Tucket, a young Louisiana girl, and her first confrontation with the magic that shadows her long family line.

What do you like most about witches?
Intriguing. Mysterious. Vulnerable. Powerful. The exploration of witch and magic lore through literary craftsmanship blends a kind of unbridled opportunity to explore curiosities while also presenting the human, humble aspect of witchery. Witches are oddities, their stories peculiar, their energy vibrant and dynamic. From magic tokens to earth-based spells, witches offer a rekindling of ties to nature and ties to soul- something that has kept me fascinated with them since I learned to read.

Who is your favorite fictional or legendary witch, and why?
The witches most near and dear to my heart are the White Witch from the beautifully crafted Chronicles of Narnia and the diverse witches presented by American Horror Story’s Coven. I’m drawn to darker witches because they offer so many layers to explore, personal turmoil, and stunning—sometimes ruthless—ambition.

Would you rather be a good witch or a wicked witch? Why?
The depth of wicked witches allows for deliciously developed characters. If I could flex my witchy muscle, I would be a wicked witch sprinkled with witchly goodness.

What’s up next for you?
While I love creating short stories, there is something truly enchanting about writing longer works. The next step for me is finding the right representation or publisher for my horror and science fiction novels. I am captivated by the literary arena and love reading wide ranges of stories while also penning my own tales.
