Wax & Wane: Cooper O’Connor

Cooper OConnor is an imagination seeker, and when he isn’t writing stories, he’s exploring for lake monsters in his kayak.

Wax & Wane: Hopscotch

What is your story about?
My story is summarized with the first line: “Everybody knows that there’s nothing as truly awful, as thoroughly evil, than a thirteen year old girl.”  I wanted to craft a story of payback, what happens when a mean girl picks on the wrong victim.

What do you like most about witches?

What make witches so iconic are the different interpretations you can take.  They can be presented as sympathetic, sensitive worshippers of nature.  They can be monsters hiding among us. Whether it be the Wicked Witch of the West, The Baba Yaga or the new vision that repurposes them as monstrous creatures in Scott Snyder’s Wytches, they function as a cornerstone to myth making and are powerful, lasting figures in storytelling.

Who is your favorite fictional or legendary witch, and why?

The Wicked Witch of the West. It’s the most iconic image of the Witch and for good reason.

Would you rather be a good witch or a wicked witch? Why?

Wicked Witch! They have more fun.

What’s up next for you?

Keep on keeping on.
